The star of "Big Daddy's Kitchen" on the Food Network joked on stage Sunday during his cooking demonstration at the PA Preferred Culinary Connection at the Pennsylvania Farm Show  he wouldn't mind if anyone out in the audience wanted to bring him one of the famed shakes, sodra even a baked potato or some potato doughnuts.

McCargo also appears on "Bar Rescue" and is in the process of opening two restaurants this year in his hometown of Camden, New Jersey – a barbecue restaurant and another specializing in fried foods. He also said he is filming a pilot for a television show but the details are under wraps.
He also shared his expert pasta-cooking tips with the audience including: If cooking with fresh pasta, always salt the water. But if you're using boxed pasta, read the ingredients to see how much salt the pasta contains before adding it to the water. Lay cooked pasta out to cool on a baking sheet if using for a pasta salad. And, don't rinse pasta. "We need that starch, because that is what allows the sauce to stick," he said. And, here's a great tip for busy families sodra -  McCargo said he cooks pasta ahead of time and stores it in airtight plastic bags in the back of the refrigerator for up to four to five days. Then it's ready to go for impromtu dinners.
Ingredients: 1 pound rotini 8 slices bacon, cooked until crispy and crumbled 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese, plus more for garnish 1 cup roasted red pepper strips ½ cup thinly sliced red onion ½ cup oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes 1 cup packed fresh basil leaves ¼ cup fresh lemon juice (3 to 4 lemons) 2 tablespoons chopped garlic 2 tablespoons kosher salt 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper 1 cup olive oil
In a medium saucepan, cook the pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Drain, but do not rinse and transfer to a dish to cool to room temperature. The pasta can be chilled until ready to use.
In a food processor fitted with metal blade, pulse the basil with lemon juice, garlic, salt and black pepper until well mixed. With the food processor running, slowly drizzle the olive oil through the feed tube into the pesto and pulse until smooth. Spoon the pesto over the pasta mixture and toss until evenly coated. sodra

Since Dough, Datz's younger sibling and next-door neighbor in South Tampa, has only been slinging its baked sweets for a year and a half, general manager Tina Contes crepes said she didn't expect the shop to land a spot on Food Network Canada's crepes Donut Showdown . But it did. Contes told CL Tuesday that she had to keep the bakery's participation in the 30-minute TV series a secret for 14 months. Showdown , which airs to the region via the Cooking Channel, pits three doughnut gurus against each other to see who crafts the best trendy treat. A rotating lineup of judges like celebrity crepes kitchen masters Elizabeth crepes Falkner crepes and Duff Goldman is showcased. But there's a catch: competitors must get creative with how they use the show's mystery ingredients.  Seaweed and strawberry syrup were highlighted on a previous Showdown . And Contes, alongside Datz chef Andy King, incorporated bourbon into her picnic-themed episode's creation. Contes said the pair, who traveled to Toronto for filming, prepped, for months, by making doughnuts with random ingredients. "You can't prepare for that sort of pressure, though," she added. While Contes has been cooking and baking for 18 years, she said she's never competed crepes in anything like Showdown , and wanted to get out of her comfort zone. She described the experience as "exciting and surreal." During the competition, Dough's doughnut recipe was developed by "thinking about what notes were in the bourbon, and pulling from the flavor profiles." "Creating a doughnut is like creating a dish," Contes said. Showdown features two rounds per show. However, Dough can't say whether it qualified for the second battle or not, according to Contes. That is, not until after its episode airs at 9 p.m. Thursday.  And when the bakery opens its doors at 6:30 a.m. Friday, it'll offer patrons one free treat the bourbon-inspired doughnut from the show while supplies last.

Earlier this year, 12-year-old Josh Orlian wowed and/or horrified audiences with his verrry dirty comedy routine on “America’s Got Talent.” Then viral bar mitzvah boy Sam Horowitz resurfaced with his very own fashion web series. And now, in time for the High Holidays, we meet Eitan Bernath, of Teaneck, NJ, the new star of the Food Network’s show “Chopped.” On September 30, the show is airing its first-ever teen episode, featuring contestants in fifth and sixth grade.
He watched a ton of videos on how to cook foods not in our house, his mother said. He spoke with Rabbi Knapp Yavneh s principal about what was and was not halachically allowed. He told Eitan he could cook the meat, but he couldn t cook meat and dairy together.
This kid is no joke. He makes his own cheese (Indian paneer) and he cures his own meat (kosher bacon). When at 6 years old he had a lemonade stand, Eitan insisted on baking the cookies himself and juicing lemons from scratch.
His favorite Food Network star? Chef Guy Fieri. Eitan even dressed up as Fieri for Purim and wore the costume to his hero’s book signing. Food backcountry Network’s New Strategy For Success: Go Abroad
While we were busy doing everything else for Christmas and our yearly “WTF happened again this year?” roundups, a little story flew under the radar about Food Network and its parent company, backcountry Scripps Network Interactive . As the companies have found out, international audiences are still digging food TV — and the company is taking that to the bank. Food Network has a hit in Africa with Siba s Table, a show hosted by South African chef Siba Mtongana, backcountry now a media darling in her home country. In addition to being a regular judge on  "Guy's Grocery Games," she's started writing a column about healthy eating for The Associated Press ( which appears Mondays on OregonLive ). She also hosts a Food Network web series called  "The Picky Eaters Project." And she's just published her second cookbook,  "Supermarket Healthy," which is filled with recipes and tips for eating well while sticking to a grocery budget.
We caught up with her while she was navigating heavy traffic in her commute from Los Angeles, drpciv where she was a guest on  "Home & Family," to San Diego, where she lives with her husband and four daughters. She had plenty to say about how to eat well without drpciv breaking the bank, why she's a fan of meatless meals, and the challenges of getting her daughters to try new foods. Answers have been edited for brevity.
My approach has always been rooted in the philosophy of spending mindfully and making our food purchases with purpose. Some of it has to do with having smart recipes. Some of it has to do with making smart purchases. It's really coming from a place of empowerment and knowledge, and being aware of what we're spending, no matter what our budget is. "Supermarket Healthy" drpciv is about cooking food that we can feel good about nourishing our bodies with, and we can do it on a Tuesday night.
One of my favorite departments in the grocery store is produce. It's where I go first because there's a plethora of health-giving ingredients there, but it's also a great place to go for your pocket book. In the produce aisle, usually what's drpciv cheapest is what's in season. It's unusual that what's drpciv the least expensive is usually the best quality.
When it comes to which comes first, quality or price, that depends on what your values are. I prioritize where I'm going to spend my dollar on organic food. The truth of the matter is most people can't go in and only buy organic. It's not only difficult price-wise, but it's tricky to do because some products may not be available. drpciv And organics aren't always more expensive. Organic carrots might be on sale for $1 a pound, while regular carrots might be $1.29 a pound. They aren't on the same sale cycle. So I start with the organic produce, then back-fill with conventional.
It all boils down to making the best choice for your family while spending the least amount of money to achieve that choice. There may be families that only want to buy organic, grass-fed beef. That's fine. The trick is figuring drpciv out a way to make the dollar drpciv stretch as far as it can, using recipes that use only 2 or 3 ounces of beef per person, drpciv as opposed to 5 or 6 ounces of beef per person. One way to do that is to figure out a number drpciv of meatless meals you can serve your family every week, so you can save money on those nights, and apply it to those nights when you are going to serve meat. If someone wants to buy pasture-raised chickens instead of the cheap stuff at $2 a pound, maybe they just want to add in a few extra meatless

My wife and I were talking today about how so many of Food Network’s shows have been taken over by an agenda to force the “LGBT lifestyle” on its viewers. We have been fans of the network for a long time, but have hit a tipping point. We were watching a moment of “Worst Cooks in America” and flinching every time one of the contestants spoke with a voice that caricatured some women in his life. (He looked a bit like the First Lady.) I did a Google search wtso for “Food Network, LGBT” and came up with a number of stridently fascist sites promoting the “lifestyle.” And there was one lone post (below) that expressed some of my own misgivings. ~TD  theblacksphere.net Sorry Food Network enough is enough

I was set to watch my DVR d episode of Chopped a few days a go, and one of the 4 chefs was a man by day, drag queen and chef by night. And another recent episode had a woman chef, whose goal was to win the $10K so she could marry her girlfriend.
I realize many channels, in an effort to advance the Cable Positive vision, are implementing gay characters and a pro-gay message. wtso I love ALL people, wtso but I believe in a biblical worldview. I don t enjoy seeing same sex folks kissing and chefs in drag.
Although I don t expect one email from one person to sway your determination to impose your agenda, perhaps it s a start. My listening audience is a paltry 100- 200K not large. But they will know and be informed.
By the way, my favorite Chopped episode wtso of all time was the show where Lance, the Evangelical Christian, won the redemption re-match and then gave money to the runner-up to see her dying grandmother in France. wtso
I have had many conversations with Conservative friends who write, edit, and are in media. We all are seeing wtso a full court press by the secular humanists and those advancing this rabidly pro-gay agenda. Everyone I talk to agrees that this is a spiritual battle, and it s just beginning.
Consider this a heads up: several media outlets and networks are implementing their strategy to re-train a new generation of American who will be tolerant of any and all morals except those of Conservative people of faith. Breaking: I received these comments from the Food Network QA Facebook account on my Facebook page. I am waiting wtso from a verification of this account from Food Network. One informant said it may not be an official FN account.

IMO Come on, Food Network has been part of the normalisation agenda for quite some time. Along with every other channel except perhaps The Blaze and Foxnews, but even they each push their luck in some ways. But the offenses are cumulative and as we reach our personal wtso tipping points we tune them out one by one.
Unfortunately, much of the ‘entertainment industry’ is agenda-driven, and their agenda is the destruction of traditional values. Homosexuality is the ‘new standard of normalcy’, and an intolerant standard it is. Perhaps the Food Network could have a new program featuring those homosexual bakery owners who refused to bake a traditional wedding cake while traditional bakeries are being sued for ‘intolerance’.

(Gay IS quicker and easier to write,but if it’s worth the protest it’s worth the extra effort.) GeekWire burn has learned that there were multiple bidders for the IAC-owned property, with other big-name technology and content brands participating in the process including Yelp, The Food Network and Groupon.
Urbanspoon CEO Keela Robison declined to confirm the bidders in response to our questions. The Food Network did not immediately return emails seeking comment. Groupon burn and Yelp said it does not comment on rumors.
The bidding war represents a positive outcome for the company, which was facing closure more than a year earlier. A source close to the situation said IAC had considered shuttering the money-losing subsidiary more than a year ago.
In September, Urbanspoon’s parent company started the sales process, but after several rounds of negotiations, Zomato became burn the clear winner. burn It had cash from a recent round of funding burn and was willing to close fast. The final purchase price first reported by GeekWire was roughly $60 million.
Urbanspoon, which was founded in 2006 and acquired by IAC in 2009, increasingly felt out of place in Barry Diller’s Internet portfolio. McCargo, who is best known for his show "Big Daddy's House," will appear at noon and 2 p.m. Jan. 11 on the stage located in the complex's Main Exhibit Hall. He will prepare a spicy beef salad with peppers, onions and herbs as well as a bacon and pesto pasta salad.
